Many of you know me as the actress in Hollywood who plays the vampire Pam on True Blood. I’ve never been to Kenya, I’ve never directed a film and I’m afraid of snakes. But in two weeks I am flying to Kenya to direct a documentary, Out for Africa, about elephant ivory and rhino horn poaching. Along with an incredible team, I will be traveling to five locations across Kenya to film the land, the people, the wildlife and to find out what is happening and what we can do to stop the genocide.
Why? Because this is a love story. Mine with a South African man, his with his land and ours with the beauty and force of life. All life.
Things are heating up at the Kristin Bauer van Straten Kickstarter campaign as she ups the ante with a dinner for two with Joe Manganiello and herself. Just 17 days left for Kristin Bauer van Straten Kickstarter campaign. Her goal is to raise 30,000 or more to help create a documentary that will bring to focus the horrible Elephant Ivory and Rhino Horn poaching that is at an all time high despite a ban implemented in 1989. However when it comes to Kickstarter it is an all or nothing kind of thing. Whatever your goal is if you don’t reach it you don’t get it. With only over two weeks to go there’s just a bit over $1000 left to reach the goal of $30,000. While we certainly want to reach the goal; we definitely want to exceed it. What’s best about the campaign is the range of the donations and the rewards you can get for donating. Not only do you get the personal gratification of making a difference there’s a multitude of items up for grabs including a that personal dinner for two with Joe and Kristin. Ever had dinner with a were and a vamp at the same time should be interesting. If that one is bit too much for you to handle there’s always pledges to be made on all kinds of True Blood memorabilia — Alexander Skarsgard script including signatures and a doodle — to name one. Pledges range from $1-$5000 so there is something for everyone and I know that if we all get together we can have Kristin past that goal within the matter of days. Let’s help out one of our True Blood Favs and help bring attention to a serious situation happening in Africa right now.
